If you’ve not been into the store in a while, you may have missed some of our newest and hottest-selling cigars – all originating from Nicaragua and created by some of the top cigar makers in the industry.

Here are three new cigars that our customers are raving about!

Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua Robusto

Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Our friend A.J. Fernandez and his fellow cigar maker Rafael Nodal have created a new version of Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real. Called the “Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua,” it’s rolled from tobaccos grown on Fernandez’s farms in Nicaragua.

The cigar was scheduled for release in mid-March but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shipment was delayed until May 15.

“This cigar was so popular with our customers that we quickly sold out of our first shipment,” says Buddy Williams, manager of M.A.’s Smoke House in Shreveport and Bossier City. “It’s just a really good stick.”

Nodal told Cigar Aficionado that he and AJ worked on the blend for 18 months.

“It is more complex and fuller in body than the original Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real made in Dominican Republic, but not too strong,” he said.

Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua is made at Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua in Estelí, Nicaragua.

La Aroma de Cuba Edition Special

Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Ecuador Sumatra
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Sometimes an established cigar just needs a tweak here and there in order to breathe new life into it. Case in point is the La Aroma de Cuba Edition Special – another current great seller at M.A.’s Smoke House.

The blend may look the same on paper as the original blend: Ecuador wrapper, Nicaraguan filler, and Nicaraguan binder, but the new blend has been tweaked with special attention paid to the wrapper. Although it’s still made from Ecuador Havana tobacco, the new wrapper comes from higher primings, meaning they grow on a higher portion of the tobacco plant.

This cigar garnered a 93-point rating and “Humidor Selection” honors and was named one of the Top Cigars of the Year.

The rating review commented: “A very attractive belicoso with a great draw and even burn. Every puff is rich with coffee and cocoa notes, yet well balanced by cedary flavors and plenty of spice.”

Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua

Wrapper: Nicaragua
Origin: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Another popular cigar influenced by the aforementioned maker Rafael Nodal is the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua.

Nodal partnered with Romeo y Julieta and Montecristo to create this new Nicaraguan puro which features 100% of its tobacco, including wrapper, binder, and long-filler, from Nicaragua.

The result is a medium to full-bodied stick full of peppery, zesty, and rich flavors.

In fact, the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua was named #1 cigar of 2019 with a 96-point rating which noted: “Every puff is an overture of flavors that’s at times heavy and rich with notes of dark chocolate and wood, and other times, subtle and understated with hints of fine caramel and toasted almonds.”
