When you walk into M.A.’s Smokehouse, you might find yourself overwhelmed with the abundant choices of cigars.
“Our customers have a wide variety of tastes and preferences, so we try to offer a little something for everyone,” says Buddy Williams, manager. “However, we realize it can be overwhelming for the novice smoker or someone wanting to try something new.”
Abundant choices notwithstanding, when a customer isn’t sure what to choose, Buddy is always ready to make a recommendation. Right now, he’s telling customers about three cigars that never fail to get rave reviews: My Father’s Connecticut, Avo Syncro Nicaragua and Rose of Sharon’s Southern Draw.
Here’s why Buddy recommends these sticks and why you don’t want to miss them:
My Father’s Connecticut
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut
Filler: Nicaragua Habano-Criollo
Binder: Nicaraguan Corojo 99
“Nicaraguan blends are very popular right now,” said Buddy. “The soil is volcanic, which is outstanding for growing tobacco. My Father’s Connecticut features a blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos with a wrapper from Ecuador. The flavor profile features a light hint of spice with creamy tones.”
My Father’s Connecticut is blended at the My Father’s Cigar Factory in Nicaragua. The cigar features a unique aromatic leaf and a special fermentation process, which releases the aromas and flavors that creators Don ‘Pepin’ Garcia and son Jaime wanted for this blend.
The Avo Syncro Nicaragua
Wrapper: Ecuador
Filler: Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and Peru
Binder: Dominican Republic
The Syncro is first in a new line created by cigar maker AVO, and features a rare tobacco grown on a remote Nicaraguan island. With a flavor profile known for its wild character and peppery notes, the AVO Syncro is fast-becoming a customer favorite at M.A.’s Smokehouse.
“The tobacco is both sweet and spicy, but balanced by creamy notes from Dominican leaves,” says Buddy. “We’ve had great customer feedback on this cigar.”
The Southern Draw Rose of Sharon
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sun Grown Connecticut
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan Viso/Seco
Named after the wife of company founder Robert Holt, the Rose of Sharon features an Ecuadorian sun-grown Connecticut wrapper accompanied by a velvety feel, a gentle sweetness and a toasty burn blended with a rich Nicaraguan binder and filler tobacco.
“The Rose of Sharon is a well-balanced cigar with a flavor profile featuring a mild body and medium flavor,” says Buddy.
