The Cigar Band

Square Sticker M.A.'s Smokehouse Shreveport

Ever wonder where the idea for cigar bands came from? There are several historical legends surrounding the origins of the band that surrounds the body of a cigar, but our favorite tale attributes the idea to Catherine the Great, Tsaritsa of Russia. The story is that while the queen loved a good cigar, she required each one to be wrapped in silk to prevent it from staining her fingers. The idea was perpetuated by her court members, who wrapped their cigars in fabric to emulate the queen’s style.

Today, these bands are made from foil or paper, and they are used to denote the brand and type of cigar. These miniature marketing pieces are art in and of themselves, and often become a collectible item.

We are proud to announce the arrival of our signature M.A.’s House Cigar; carefully selected to appeal to a range of tastes at a reasonable price point. It is the perfect cigar for first-time smokers, but sophisticated enough to please an aficionado.

Stop by and pick one up, or stick around to enjoy it in one of our lounges.
