As the temperatures drop, pipe enthusiasts are stocking up on tobacco at M.A.’s Smoke House.
“The cooler weather tends to bring out the pipe smokers,” says Buddy Williams, manager. “And while everyone has their favorite tobacco, most are open to trying something new. So we always try to have a few new tobacco brands this time of year.”
Buddy and his team just put three new pipe tobacco brands on the shelves at M.A’s. Two of the brands are by Lane Limited of Tucker, Georgia; while the other is by Peter Stokkebye of Denmark.
Vanilla Black Cavendish by Lane Limited
If you’re a diehard McClelland’s Vanilla Black Cavendish fan, you were disappointed to learn that the 40-year old company went out of business this year.
But you’ll be glad to know that Buddy has found a worthy substitute for the popular line: Lane Limited’s Vanilla Black Cavendish.
This tobacco is a well-balanced blend combining Black Cavendish tobaccos with the rich flavor of vanilla; so sweet that it produces a butterscotch-like aroma. The flavor profile is deep, but the sweet vanilla is never overpowering, offering a smooth, aromatic smoke with a pleasant, mellow flavor.
Cherry Cavendish by Lane Limited
If you prefer cherry flavor to vanilla, Lane Limited also makes a Cherry Cavendish pipe tobacco. This aromatic blend of Cavendish tobaccos flavored with cherry is full- bodied, yet surprisingly gentle. It’s mild with no tongue bite.
Bullseye Flake by Peter Stokkebye
This pipe tobacco is a blend of ripe Virginia tobacco that’s been spiced with pure Louisiana Perique. The Perique’s distinctive aroma, combined with the natural sweetness of Virginia tobacco, produces a flavor with character.
To make Bullseye Flake, the outer blend of leaves is pressed into thin layers before it’s tightly spun around a stick of pressed Black Cavendish. This forms a large “cigar” that is thinly sliced into bullseye coins. Take two or three of these coins, pack them in your pipe and enjoy a lightly aromatic smoke of medium strength.
